Forest River

Umagaan 18 May 2021

This was a long one. Took me quite a while to paint all the gesso trees. But it was a fun process, I really enjoyed playing with shades and shapes. Painting the grass wasn't easy, I think I should have used a smaller brush. And my highlights are a bit too muddy brownish for my taste. Love the water. Painting stones was a tiny little bit easier than last (first) time. The big trees were the best part. I just love painting trees. I tried to really pay attention to where the light hits them. I added another big tree on the left because the painting seemed a bit empty and there were a few too many white trees in the background. All in all I really liked painting this and for a change there almost wasn't a moment while painting that I didn't like what was going on on the canvas. Painted this one for my son, he really liked all the stones in the original.

Mgiese84 Cleanest Technique In The Game

You did a fantastic job! I also want to do this sometime I'm in the mood to paint all those trees in the background.

This is a superb attempt Umagaan, I know you could do this!
You might be surprised of some positive changes in your creation after the oil has dried for several days.

You created quite some depth in there! Grass isn't bad at all but the front tree of the right catches all of my attention with its bark and shy foliage!

Mgiese84 thank you. I think it's a good idea to prepare the canvas a few days in advance. I leisurely painted the gesso trees, I think it took me two days to finish them.

Voy thanks for the kind comment! That tree on the right is one of the best I ever painted 🌲😁
