A Walk in the Woods

Tkdshine 29 Jun 2021

This is my second Bob Ross oil painting. I followed the very first episode to the best of my abilities. I am still learning how to layer thin and thick paint. As well, I really wanted the tree in front to stand out more. Any suggestions for that would be very helpful. (-:

Sometimes I had too much paint on my 1" Brush to get the texture I wanted for foliage. As well, using opposing colors for highlights made this even more of a challenge. However, I am happy with the outcome. I really like the rocks and water, as well as the sky and my purple trees. Whew!

Great work on the stones and path. The first few seasons, especially the very first, can be hard to follow as the camera work isn't very good. As far as making the trees stand out more in the foreground two things I'd say is make 1) make them a little darker than the rest and 2) give them a little more detail than the rest. Just keep practicing and have fun!

Thank you so much!! 🥰🥰🥰 I really appreciate your comments and suggestions. I basically treated this one as fun practice. I really did learn a lot. I'm still going to try and complete Season 1. I think I can do it with all of the paints I have in the master set.

I yesterday saw Season 1 episode 13 where Bob introduced his son Steve and it was Q&A session and he went into more details in explaining things there. check it out. I would suggest to start with seasons 6 or 7, I think this is when Bob became Bob.

That makes sense, Sunnylady. I saw S1E13 recommended as a place to start. I'll have to take a look at the whole episode. I did watch some of it. Think he made the mountain, then I had to move on.
