Indian Girl

moai 05 Jul 2021

Painted on an 18 x 24 surface similar to that of the original. The surface was just the backing from an 18 x 24 frame that I used for one of my oil paintings. Why let something like that go to waste. I changed somethings and decided to go with a more Hawaiian or Polynesian girl. It is of no one in particular, but I did want to paint a hibiscus in her hair because I saw one like that at a neighbors house. This is my first true painted portrait, I have drawn several and tried other more cartoon ones including Disney Princess's. My shading could be better and the mouth gave me fits. I originally did not plan on a neck or a pink shirt, but they kind of looked right. I am happy enough with it to upload it. I did use a pencil to sketch a basic under drawing.

I admire anybody bold enough to dabble in portraiture, i tried it a couple of times and vowed to leave it to those who can....the hibiscus is beautiful!

I thought about having her wear a face mask, but that might be skipping out on the challenge.

I will probably have another attempt if I can find another surface.
