This is my third painting. I'm pretty content with my water, but I'm struggling both with the fan brush technique in the trees and with getting the yellow thin enough for the highlights.

Thanks! I'll try that next time. This time, I just kept adding paint thinner (and maybe some liquid clear).

When I started I also struggled with getting the paint thin enough to have the highlights stick. For me, using paint thinner was not working. I have found (through advice from others here) that using liquid white works much better at achieving the desired results as well as having a lot of paint on the brush. Btw your water does look nice!
