City Island Sunset

This was my 2nd attempt on doing this painting from a photo a friend took. I wasn’t happy with the first one. I’m including the photo for comparison.. my first attempt the sunset had harsh lines and was not blended well.. I’m a little happier with this one.. November 15, 2020

Real nice! Do you want to add this to the 'water works' event?

Adam, a small tip if you want to make a sun shine, don’t be afraid to use dark colors like mix of alizarin crimson with phtalo green in the sky. Darkening the most of it will bring orange and yellows near the sun fantastic and shining. Try to avoid use of pure white in the evening sky. Also because there is water here you need to have water even darker. Sun path will be shining over that dark water. Keep pure white for only couple of the very last touches.

You have a nice painting here. The mood is different though. Reflection in the water are very nice, you reflected everything and it adds a real feel to it. Sun path is very very good!

Great job on the reflections in the water. From the sky, and from all the boats!

Thank you so much for the advice Sunnylady!!
And sure, Felix, would love to enter this to the water works event!
