The painting looks great without comparing it to the photo. I think you captured the feeling of the photo. Painting from photos is tough due to value compression. If the eyes see 0-1000, but your pallette range is 0-10, you have to decide which end of the values to compress. Looks like you compressed it to show details in the light, losing the shadows. If that makes sense. It's a good painting.
