Campfire in the Evening.

BScutter 14 Oct 2020

This was my first attempt at painting. I do not draw well. After watching Bob Ross paint the Campfire I dove right in. I found it impossible to blurr the background with the big brush. I wiped out everything. What type of brush do I need? The paints were stiff out of the tube so I used Gamblin Gel to get them to spread better. After highlighting I tried numerous times to blend but to no avail. I repainted them a couple of times and left out the blurring technique. I finished the painting in approximately three hours. I am surprised and elated with my first attempt. Thank you Bob Ross.

Good work for a first!!

What Bob, and probably the majority of us as well, used is a blender brush. That has VERY soft bristles and can be found in most hobby paint utility stores. I got one from the 'Bob Ross' brand, unfortunately it is rather expensive!

Good luck with your new hobby!!

The brush does matter when blending, but not as much as the touch. It's an incredibly soft (literally barely touching the canvas) touch. I have had to add more paint to my canvas many, many times because I over blended. It's something that takes practice. Don't give up! This is a nice painting.

Thank you for your help and compliment.
