Is it your first human figure? Painting is awesome!

Thanks Sunnylady. Yes, it is my first human figure. The figure was traced and transferred from a reference photo. I’m not sure if my drawing skills are good enough to do it freehand.

An y tool that works is great! Don’t worry about drawing/tracing, there are so many technical means that make life easier and help us to enjoy the process and result. I would not have skills to draw a figure as well, that is why the question:)
Love how you managed the light in this painting!

flippergirlpaints Top Event Submitter

This is amazing! (I love so many of your paintings) I thought it was digital at first. I agree with Sunnylady about the tracing; it is a commonly utilized practice. I trace my pets basic head/face using my monitor or my tv screen as a light box and then transfer the image to my canvas. (SPOILER 😮) I still have to complete the painting which is the hard part, right?

Voy Kay Conqueror of Challenges

This is super! The light you captured is brilliant! That figure is SO real, I would follow her at any beach!

Although I never surfed before, I only learned windsurfing!

Thanks Sunnylady, Flippergirlpaints and Voy Kay. Great to have your feedback and also great to hear that others trace and transfer images too. I felt like I was cheating a bit but want to continue to paint rather than learn to draw and then paint.

Awesome painting it looks so real.
You did a good job with the soft features in the distance and the details on the girl

Thanks, Michael! Much appreciated.

Beautiful....The sky and how you captured the light is just amazing, actually silhouettes are fairly easy to freehand as long as you take your time

Thanks, Tel. Yes, I agree that the silhouette would have been easy enough to draw compared to a figure with fully visible features. Next time. (;
