I’ve been looking at Kevin Hill’s work lately. His River’s Edge was the inspiration for this.

Tree shapes are great! the leaves look very close to real trees!
I also watch Kevin from time to time and i am always impressed how he does illusion of detailed grass by adding few with liner brush!
