I’m not sure if this would be considered an original painting or not. It’s the lighthouse from “Night Light” but has the sky from “Ebb Tide” and the water is modeled after “Stormy Seas”. I was trying to go for something like the lighthouse in Portland, Maine.

A definite original! I enjoy changing up some of Bob's paintings as well. By picking the parts of different compositions that you really like and putting them together, it really becomes yours. I think that is a terrific sky for the daytime lighthouse!

Thanks! It’s funny, if you watch Bob’s early seascapes, the techniques are different than his later ones. Night Light is one of the early ones and he talked about putting curved white lines up the front of the waves. In his later seascapes, he talked about running the white lines down the back of the waves and leaving the front dark. That’s what I tried to do on this one. I think it looks better. I think it just goes to show that even the master, Bob Ross, has a learning curve and adapts his style as he learned and got better over the years.
