Original Creation

Miami Bob Ross

I don't know, it's the title I named the jpeg when I found it just randomly surfing Facebook.

I did one rendition of it many moons ago, on a smaller canvas - this one is a 16x20 and was much easier to do, now that I have some additional experience.

I was going to try to ripple the reflections of the palm trees in the water, and almost ruined the painting. I basically did exactly what Bob did in the one where he started by scraping everything off - so that's why the colors in the water are muted...I had wiped off as much as I could - but the black of the trunks had stained the canvas pretty well - so even with a bunch of titanium white before adding the color back yielded the muted results.

It was a great confidence builder to encounter that happy little accident - and be able to recover to a rather nice final product.

The second picture I posted, is my first attempt at painting it, and on the right is the original picture that I printed out.

Nice save. I have yet to have any success recovering from happy accidents.
