Dragonstone-GOT

Cronenberg89 26 Feb 2024

I had a go at Dragonstone wet on wet as Bob would and am not happy with it but I post the good, the bad and the ugly. Next time I plan to sketch the castle and then paint it. Time spent painting is never wasted if you try to learn from the problems encountered. 16x20

Nice Brian. Love the GOT series. Winter is coming ;)

Thanks Tony!

I am learning first hand just how difficult castles are, I've been chipping away at one for the last couple weeks. I really thought it would be a simple exercise of shapes and perspective, oh how wrong I was. You did very well with this, just wanted to say I relate very much to the struggle.

Thanks Jeff! I approached it as “just another building”, how wrong I was lol! I like to try to finish a painting in one session but I guess castles will take more than one. 😂

Yes my castle is very much wet-on-dry at this point haha. I too was hoping it would be just a large pile of cabins. I've resorted to tape to get lines straight and I still find myself scratching my head at times trying to get the perspective right. It's a great exercise, I can't wait to be done and share, we seem to have a trend of castles lately on TIB :D love it.

Nice!

I totally relate to this statement: “ Time spent painting is never wasted if you try to learn from the problems encountered” I sometimes have to remind myself of that. I like this painting and especially for not having sketched it in advance that is real talent. Nice work :)

Thanks Tom and Daniel!
