Original Creation

Red Barn

Dan53 03 Sep 2026

My first painting that isn’t a Bob Ross recreation. Very different not having Bob whispering in my ear telling me what to do. This is from a photo I had. Didn’t turn out quite like the photo but think it works. That’s a cornfield in the background. Hope that’s what you see if you take a look! Feedback always welcome.

Very nice and barn looks so good!

Really nice Dan, the only thing i might correct is the barns perspective which is slightly out.
Great greenery and path

Really nice! Good to stretch your legs! Painting from photos can be challenging since you must use what you learned from Bob and apply it to something new. I find an occasional original is a great way to grow skills and confidence.

Thank you Sandy, Terry and Larry for the nice comments.
Terry- appreciate your feedback on the perspective. Agree it’s something I have to keep working on. Thx

I'm with Larry on this one. I just love painting from photos but never try too copy them exactly as that doesn't work well for me, the photo is just an idea after all, this is your painting! You did a great job. The corn field looks great and I love the shady footpath.

Thanks so Much Helen for the nice comments. Means a lot. It’s a good message from both you and Larry to remember that the photo is an idea and the results doesn’t have to be identical. Hard to build the confidence to just let it happen!

Very well done, the depth and layers feel so natural. And the barn looks amazing

Thank you Smellis for the nice comments. Much appreciated!

I love your barn! You have such depth and great light in your painting. It's beautiful! But the barn is the star...hands down!

Thanks so much Marion!
