Looking for Gold - Bill Alexander

Dirk1968 11 Oct 2023

I found this painting on Alexander Art and found the topic interesting. The tutorial was available on the net. While looking, I noticed that there are big differences between the picture and the tutorial, so I tried to find a middle ground, relatively close to Bill's idea and yet, as always, changed something to my taste. Other mountains, shadows, colors adapted, etc. It was already a challenge to try it. All in all, I am relatively happy with the result. I hope the old master would like it and you like it too, my version of looking for Gold by Bill Alexander. As always totally fresh from 25 min ago.

Canvas, 24 x 30 cm (. 9.45 x 11.80 inch ) 2 x white Gesso, grinded 240/400, liquid white , time 3.5 Hours
The second picture below after a day of drying , the third after 1 week and small modifications

Love this! Super job and very well done!

Hey Sandy , GrรผรŸe aus Deutschland ๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ชtrank you so much ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

Good job Dirk, I know this episode and it is quite a challenging one. Yet didn't try it.
I can explain the difference between the pictures on the homepage of Alexander Art and the TV episode. On the homepage almost every time the book version (much more detailed and better worked out) is shown, the TV version is much faster finished and most of the time it is not that perfect. It is the same with Bob Ross too.
I have done a lot of research on Alexander, not easy because nowadays almost no one remembers him. Currently I am reading his biographical book. Though it will take me some time as it is only available in English.

Amazing

Hey Tom .Als erstes vielen Dank .Ich mรถchte mal sagen in diesem speziellen Fall finde ich die Tutorial Fassung sogar besser . Das Bild auf Alexander Art sieht so zusammen gesetzt aus und die Schatten sind mir zu extrem gesetzt und die Berge im Hintergrund waren auch nicht so meins aber wie immer sehr subjektiv. Ich hoffe du haust demnรคchst wieder eins raus ich werde drauf warten . Fire in my Friend ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡น

Thanks Brian, I can say that the cabin combo was a challenge. I'm very excited about your version. Also look at the picture on Alexander Art .This is already very different compared to the turtorial .( Water, shades)๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Hey Beauty, First off all I want to thank you for your kind words. Unfortunately, I don't have a book, otherwise I would have liked to email it. The picture is on Alexander Art and the tutorial on YouTube . I'll send you the picture, then you don't need to search๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช

Good Morning from Germany, Daniel. Thank you so much. That was a challenge ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช

I was going back through your posted paintings and found this one. I love it. On of my favorite paintings.

HeyBob, first of all thank you very much for making the effort to get back to look. Secondly, I can tell you that it was one of my most difficult pictures so far. But you know, no mercy and fire in ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช
