Each year I'm creating a Christmas card for my girlfriend, and each year I'm trying to push it further. This year I've drawn a little comic about elves conducting a microbiological experiment (she's a microbiologist).
It was drawn digitally with the Krita software over a few days, all in all around 12 to 15 hours. I then printed it in a copy shop on A4 paper and folded it into a little "zine". You can look up "zine" on Google to learn more about this, it's a really fun topic to dive into.
Most of the reference pics I've used are from a photoshoot they had in the lab a few weeks ago, so the elves are based on my girlfriend and her colleagues. The first panel is traced to really get the architecture down correctly to be highly recognizable.

The text ist
"Christmas in the wet lab"
"For the most important experiment of the year"
Then a bunch of colorful bacteria names
"It's perfect..."
"Merry Christmas"
Super idea and work,Felix. Schรถne Weihnachten und guten Rutsch ๐๐ผ๐ฉ๐ช
Great idea and execution. The agitator in Panel 3 seems to have a New Mexico connection!
Very beautiful and a great idea for a gift
I bet she loved it! How wonderfully creative!
Very clever!
Thanks Pam! Took a lot of effort and planning

My favorite is panel 4 with the two hands. Really happy with the composition and rythm there. Only the top thumb is kinda weird. Reminds me a bit of Max Oppenheimer's violin paintings
