Portrait of my brother in oils
24x30 cm
When you paint in blue I am reminded that you are colorblind - Very nice, great light vs shadow. I like the detail -without much detail - the eyes convey.
The single color is mostly to keep the amount of variables I need to control at a reasonable amount. Painting a portrait that is not insulting to the model is difficult enough already without thinking about color 😂
This one took maybe 4 hours all in all, with some small thumbnails and a preliminary pencil sketch as preparation.
I could invest more time to smooth things out and make it more realistic, but I enjoy the rougher looking portraits that let the viewer fill out the details.
