Original Creation

Sedona View

ForestVueGallery 21 Feb 2021

I took this photo several years ago at the chapel on the hill in Sedona.
This was a challenge with the shadows and distance but it turned out reasonably well. A bit hard to match the Sedona reds but my Magic Palette mixing guide was helpful. A good learning experience.

Great job with color matching! The mountain is almighty ! Great painting!

Thank you Sunnylady! I believe that is “Court House Rock” and it is mighty.

My opinion is that you nailed it!!!!!

Thank you Toadi! I’ve had a hard time getting motivated to paint recently. With the event deadline upon me, I made the snap decision to attempt to paint this photo that sits framed on a book case. It’s amazing what we can do when we put the force of our mind into it.
I’ve found that painting from a photo works well for me. Since I’ve learned the basics, I now go to the end of Bobs videos and take a screenshot of the finished painting to work from.

that sounds fun....i have a million, well maybe not that many but lots of images saved to do....That is what I am attempting too....get the basics and go for it....still have lots to learn though

Agree that the videos are necessary and great to get the basics. I still watch the first few minutes on Bobs to get the canvas prep, etc. I have picked up a lot of useful tips from Steve’s videos as he seems to go into more detail. Keep at it, you’re doing great! 😊

thanks bunches ForestVue!!!!

Thanks Tom 😉
