Original Creation

Winter Wonderland

ForestVueGallery 13 Dec 2021

This is my second acrylic painting inspired by a Jerry Yarnell tutorial. I spent a lot of time on this but also learned a lot. 16x20 stretched canvas/Liquitex Heavy Body Acrylics.

Nicely done...I discovered him about 3 months ago...I like the actual tutorials and signed up for online school... the snippet section is fantastic if you want to actually learn why and how you paint... acrylics are fun with the layering effect

Wow! This is very nicely done. The sky colors, the placement of everything, and the trees are beautiful.

Thank you Mobrad. I just discovered him a few weeks back and signed up. Such a wealth of information there that I’ve barely explored, and I agree the snippets are great. It’s been enjoyable trying something different.

Thank you so much Madhatter, I appreciate your comments.

Your trees are so neatly done and I love the post box and the snow trodden footpath. A lovely winter scene.

Voy Kay Conqueror of Challenges

I'll second TLP here, the letter box is outstanding as is the path. Gorgeous creation in total and you have my vote!

Such nice detailing! Distance is wonderful - nice control of value chart!

I was lucky enough to have a private lesson with him a few months ago, he is an amazing teacher

Thank you TLP and Voy Kay. I attempted to make the mailbox appear as though it has been around for a while. I’m pleased you like it!

Thank you Sunnylady. Value was a large part of the lesson in this painting as well as distance. I also focused on details and I’m pleased you like it!

Thank you FGP and PB, I appreciate your kind words!

MHK, the private lesson had to be great. I’m picking up so much from the online lessons I can only imagine how special in person would be. I didn’t know who he was until a month ago. I’d been looking at other options for online lessons and he appeared out of nowhere. Meant to be!

Wow ForestVue! This is amazing especially in acrylic. They can be so much harder to blend, but your sky looks great! I love the snowman!

Thank you KJ! ⛄️ I believe the secret must be the hake brush as this is my second attempt with an acrylic sky. Surprisingly it seems easier than oils.

He is very talented, a VERY good teacher and was extraordinarily patient with me. A really, really nice guy as well!! Here is the results on my time with Jerry

MHK your painting is beautiful! Thanks for sharing it. He seems patient and dedicated in the video lessons. So much to learn.

Beautifuly done! Love the details, far far away background and the cutest snowman

Thank you Dakeota!

wow, that snowman's texture is awesome. Great job!!!! Snow has such depth but would be worth the trip down that lane to get to that awesome house, just hope the icicles wouldn't hit me in the a__, LOL It's really ,very very good!!!!

Thank you so much Toadi! I hadn’t thought of the hazards walking that drive, but it could be bad! Thanks for the chuckle 😂!
Have a Merry Christmas 🎄

I really like the mailbox and it’s milk can base. The details are great right down to the smoke from the chimney which looks perfect and not overdone. This is why I waited until today to vote. Great job.

Thank you Cronenberg, I appreciate you noticing the detail. I wondered if the smoke rising from a clean burning fire was noticeable, but to me it's realistic.

A thank you to everyone for your votes!
