Peace Offerings of Summer

I read somewhere here that someone puts their titanium white on cardboard for a while to soak up additional oil. It helps the paint break on the mountains. Who ever you are, if you read this, I will bring your baby to term. Worked amazingly well.

I again struggled with the foreground bushes but I may have realized it too late what may be my issue. I think I’m being cheap on paint. I’m kind of scraping off as much paint off the pallet and trying to force it on. And when that doesn’t work, I add more liquid white or paint thinner or pressure. Sunday, I’m just gonna grab another canvas board and test my theory.

I think my depth was pretty good here. I paid more attention to the misty areas.

Number 5 down the hatch. Thanks for reading.

Looking good, coming along nicely! Good point about the white paint, I'll try it out. Also, I do the same skimping sometimes, but I think you are correct about needing ample paint on the brush to do bushes -in fact most wet on wet benefits from that since then the paint releases more easily from the brush. Too much is also bad... keep painting!

@lpm the white paint trick was impressive. It completely changed the paint to something so dry, it took effort to run my fan brush through it. I just threw a bunch on the cardboard as soon as I began to set up. Then I got my canvas ready, pallet and brushes out. Loaded up the DVD and got my sky down. I scraped it off the cardboard and onto my pallet once I needed to get my clouds in.

And I’ll keep and eye out for keeping a responsible paint amount on my brush. :).

Thanks for your kind words

I've written an article about this trick, soooo 😂

It's a great introduction to paint consistency and using mediums with your oil paint to achieve the right consistency for whatever technique you're using

Well Felix, I guess I’m yours now.

It looks like that trick is working for you. The snowcapped mountains look good!

I have to put some of my paint on cardboard to dry it out too. Especially my bright red, it's very runny right out of the tube.
