Secluded Hidden Stream

Hammipaints 28 Sep 2023

Thought to post it as a original and not under Bobs oroginal since I changed it up quite a bit. I wanted to paint "Hidden Stream" some days ago but I was tired and messed it up quite a bit. So I opted to turn it into a deep forest painting what then turned into more of a secluded scene. I think it turned out quite nicely! I wasn't sure how good my idea of a red tree would fit in but I really like the result.

Really nice work! Looks so pretty!

A perfect painting to kick off fall. Love the colors and the brook flowing into the river. I can picture catching a happy little trout just off the rock point there.

Love that red tree!

🤩🤩🤩 This looks just an oil compo Marc!!! The foliage really looks identical of Bob's. Which brush did you use?

Thanks a lot people! :D

Thanks so much Nancy!
I only used one inch brushes for the foliage. One for the base color as well as the background trees and due to me taking a break in between a fresh one for the highlights. If I remember correctly I used the same brush I used for the green highlights for the red foliage as well. I say that because it seems to make a difference in structure with my technique. The longer I use a brush the more frayed it gets along the way, which can drastically change the form of the leaves, grass etc.
Maybe you can spot the difference: I started with the fresh brush on the tree on the left, green tree on the right, grass highlights in the front part and finally the foliage of the big tree.
Maybe a bit more detailed explanation that you asked for but now that I typed it down I'm not gonna delete it :D
