Winter Forest in an Oval

Hammipaints 29 Jun 2023

And another Forest on 30x40! It has been quite some time since I have done my last oval but I finally was in the mood for one again. The brown background was really hard to put on evenly, especially on the Edges of the canvas since the paint just did not want to spread evenly over the edge. My solution was to simply cover the edge with a thick painted frame lol. Overall I think it came out pretty nicely, though not as nice as I imagined. Also I had some bleeding going on in the top right corner of the painted frame which I can't unsee and kind of ruins the whole thing for me haha. The Forest is nice tho I think!

Another fabulous forest scene! I've been meaning to ask, and forgive me if you've covered this but: What are your favorite parts of working with acrylics for this style?

p.s. - I never would have noticed the bleeding in the top right, had it not been mentioned in your description. Even still, I find it does not diminish the overall joy of viewing this piece :D

Very pretty.

Gorgeous Marc!!! The contrast of the very cold scene and the warm oval cutout are genius! Super compo!

As far as your bleeding on the top right corner... I had to get my microscope out to see anything! 🔬Lol!!!

Thanks a lot Jeff!
As for your question: I think one of my favourite parts is the flexibility my approach to acrylics offers me concerning drying times. I can use slow drying acrylics and mediums where needed but usually don't need to worry about mudmixing at all because anywhere else I use the standard acrylics with fast drying times. Also since I am mixing my own liquid base colors I can basically use any color I want as a liquid base, which is pretty cool!
And I might sound a bit smugly here but I also enjoy the feeling of being one of the few people at least I could find on the web who succesfully managed to translate the Bob Ross style to acrylics. Really adds to feeling accomplished :D

Thank you Tomi!

Thanks a lot Nancy! Really glad you people don't notice the bleeding too much haha!

that's cool, thanks for the answer!

Maybe you could start your own line of tutorials like Kevin, since you may have cornered the market of ala prima acrylic painting? I'm not a scholar by any means so I'm not sure about that :D

I thought about that actually! Problem is that I rarely stay on the ball with such projects and i don't really have the space nor equipment for it. But yes, I have it on my mind so maybe some time :)

Nice
