My take on this lesson out of Merlin Enabnit Walter Foster book. Limited palette, Paynes gray, burnt sienna, yellow ochre, white. Palette knife. Working on loosening up.

Very nice. Good texture and shadows. Your tree turned out great as well. Love the orange tones with the grey-blue ones.
