Baja Sunset

Kaylee 23 Aug 2022

Had a little extra fun on this one - I had a memory of a sunset while at the beach. We had just eaten dinner and set outside to see a school of dolphins swimming and playing not too far out.

I’m wondering, to have a more realistic look, should I have gone for a little darker on their colors and less detail? I was torn on playful vs. reality or more so to speak.

I think this is wonderful! Wouldn't change a thing! The water is super and the dolphins are very real!

great shore..love the flippers!

That's great!

Kylee, great and playful! Love your lightness with brush work!
I would say stones need to be removed as eye rushes between stones and dolphins in front and make the big dolphin a bit out of the sufficient water depth for him. Also if you remove those stones the dolphins they will form triangle that leads the eye into the depth of the scene like an arrow "dear viewer look here" and after reaching horizon the eye follows birds to observe the sky. May be you can move the stones to the shore (in between the first and second wave) to even enhance that triangle from the left side even more, but then I still would suggest to remove the one on the right to avoid symmetry and pattern.

In terms of color on dolphins I think this is great and does not argue with anything in the painting.

Very pretty! I agree with sunnylady about the rock. At first I also thought it was part of a dolphin.

I totally agree! I ended up keeping it and someone already took the painting home! I didn’t even have the chance to change anything but either way, I’m incredibly pleased! Thanks all!

Lucky you! Great to hear dolphins have found their new home!
