Finished this one up a few nights ago with Dmitri, really pleased. Only think I would change is the tone of the moon, I may have left it a tad on the bright side, which bothers me a little bit overall leads a good effect

Another great piece of work Kaylee. Great movement in your waves. Also lovely light from the moon, I think the brightness is fine, it glows! Lines in the upload happen to me too when the paint is still a wet and upload seems to accentuate them. I find the actual paintings always look better than the photos!
Thank you Tel! I have been studying an artists work suggested by SunnyLady, his name is Dmitri Roza and he is spectacular at seascapes. He focuses heavily on the gradients needed to emphasize depth and reality itself. I have been really enjoying learning from him, while in doing so learning a new language too!

SunnyLady thank you!! I mentioned once before my childhood being of many fond beach memories. It’s so challenging to capture all that magic in a still, but because of your recommendations, I am learning!! Dmitri has been amazing. I haven’t been able to translate all of it but some I have, and I am very much interested in studying with him full time. The language barrier is only a small factor now, I adore his style and his way of instructing on gradients and blending. Love it. I am so grateful to you for sharing him with me 😀
Voy Kay thank you! I think I went back a couple times to lighten that spot up and boy am I glad I did. As it has dried, it has this glow that is unlike any other painting I have!! The softness was key for me in adding that effect, very careful blending 😂
Thank you Rah! I agree, no photo can ever do the actual painting any justice! Thank you in complimenting the moon! Even as it’s dried it’s quite bright but it has this glow to it I can’t get over how much I like it now, it’s really something I hope to emulate in more of my work going forward! Thank you so much 😊
@Kaylee - Dmitri is a treasure indeed! Let's enjoy his lessons together and follow his methods, his tutorials I think taught me the most about color mixing/behaviors and blending properly. Video operator work is awesome there and allows to learn.
I really wish to go for pleinair at some sea side. and to paint not only what I see but what i feel as well. I am very happy you are happy to paint with Dmitry!

Beautiful, you can certainly paint water....some of the best seascapes i have seen for a long time!
