Peachy Skies

Kaylee 04 Jan 2022

First painting of 2022 and I’m loving the colors. I read a fascinating couple articles about chromotherapy and wanted to paint with these respective ideas in mind! I love the turnout.

This is just beautiful! I love your color palette, and I love the connection to chromotherapy. I believe many of us practice it without really knowing - i.e. just feeling like painting something of a certain color/in the mood for "x" color. 🙂

Yeah, fantastic color in the sky and great mountains and background trees. Very nice.

Thank you Pam! I do tend to think about harmonizing the painting while composing - now I have a new perspective on meaningful colors and their counterparts! So many new ideas in my mind, just love it.

Thank you Alex!

Interesting therapy, which I hadn't heard of before, but above all one of your best works here. Can't think of anything less then perfect in this one!

Wow, those mountains...

I noticed that somehow selection of color happens subconsciously, last year I had a blue period, but i like orange/yellow color too, but do not paint in that color scheme a lot. Did you observe anything like this in your Art?
You have got a beautiful sky color in this painting and nice contrast with purple/green shadows. It feels cold even it is mostly orange. Very interesting feel!

Thank you!! I totally agree about the subconscious color picking Guyana and largely that’s how we all roll. I think usually the way we pick our colors or painting for the day does most often reflect our mood, that’s one of the treasures of being an artist. I had in my mind that this idea would offer a different perspective on color harmony. Not just for the painting overall to look “good” but for it to have an intended feeling and also not just based on my personal feels for the day. I wanted this to be contrasting so I think - by your descriptions and comments - I may have been pretty close! I wanted a warm winter scene and my color was “gold” , I had a layout in mind and went from there. Overall the painting still reflects my mood for the day since we can’t get away from that but I was able to stick with the theme and in the end, I actually felt different and more lively! I had motivation and energy! Gold or peach yellow hues should have that effect so largely I think it worked!

Thank you very much for the description of the intention of chromotherapy. I think it may explain why my stormy seas always turn to be calm, because blue color calms down and I translate it i back into my painting. I will try next on intentionally in warm colors and see where it will take my mood.

Definitely give it a try and see what it does for you! There are so many different ways to learn and sometimes all we need is a different perspective to fully grasp the learnings at hand, in my personal belief.
