Sonoran Desert

Kaylee 22 Sep 2021

I am starting to work on a new series to send my brother in Arizona for his plant store! He says his walls are too white so I am thrilled he has asked me to fill his walls! I thought maybe “Deserts of the World” but I may just settle for some varied desert scenes including some rocks and cacti. I am hopeful that it will be a fun and colorful mix!

Nice cactus cacti? love the painting

Lovely sky and awesome painting! Congrats with your own exhibition in private studio :)

Ask your brother to place a price tag on them as well as his plants. I am sure people will get interested to buy it.

Thank you everyone!! Sunnylady, thank you especially! My brother is the best, I think if I asked he would happily do that for me! What an excellent idea 💪

Mike! You are exactly right! Cactus is singular whereas cacti would be the plural of the term! In this painting I have two different types in this painting: Saguaro and barrel cactus. Both are extremely neat on their own. The saguaro blossom is actually the state flower of Arizona and only opens at night for the bats to pollinate. Another fun fact is they can live for a couple hundred years, only gaining their first arm after about age 75! Incredible! The barrel cactus has hook-like thorns, nearly the size of your pinky long and barbed so you don’t want to snag one of those! The fruit on barrel cactus are some of the favored snacks for javelina! Welcome to the Sonoran desert!
