I started to teach myself how to paint portraits, and why would I practice on someone other the Arisce Wanzer? This was the first painting I did using a new medium, water soluable oil paints, and I think these are great to do tradition dry canvas paintings. I'm really happy how this turned out. I did take some artistic liberties with the backround, but the portrait is done from a photo reference.

She is an American model, so the photo is I believe a casting photo. Those are great to work from since they tend to have really good lighting.

I recently enrolled in the new masters academy online video classes. I saw there are many classes about human figure I did not check portraits though. Take a look at their website may be you will find something to enhance your learning.
