Summer Day

LJMpaintings 23 Dec 2020

I have been watching Wilson Bickford on PBS lately. This is my version of One Summer Day in season 6. I substituted a windmill instead of the barn.( my family is from Holland). I did an underpainting in greys, he called it grisaille. I really liked doing this style. It was my first time ( and I did use a stencil )even though I used acrylics, it still worked for me. I tried a couple times to do the flicking speckles of white flowers....but it didn't work so I wiped it off again. I will may be try it one more time..otherwise I will leave it as is.

Merry Christmas and let's hope for a better 2021 year.

Very nice, great sky and good detail on the mill 👍

I have a fascination for windmills! This looks amazingly beautiful!

This is great LJM! Love how you build up that shadow work on the hill and thus highlight that mill even more then the beauty it already is!

Now for something personal, is there any way we could briefly get in touch? (Skype? E-mail? ...).

And yes, Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones!

Thanks Nivek. I found the sky very easy compared to previous times and and I am very happy with it.
Thanks Adam for your kind comment.
Thanks also Voy for the nice comments. I am happy with how it turned out.
Voy: to what does this pertain? I would prefer to keep conversation about the art only, and not give out my personal information.

Dear LJM, I am trying to paint a large wooden box with a Bob Ross recreation, and merely wanted to discuss several items/procedures/precautions ... for that since I am totally unexperienced with it but I know you are. And I thought that would be easier to discuss over a Skype call, perhaps e-mail. No harm or similar intended!

Np. How about I write an article?

Voy Kay Conqueror of Challenges

Sounds like a great idea, thanks!

Hi Voy. Article is done. Sorry if it took a while..been crazy busy.

Voy Kay Conqueror of Challenges

It's okay Ljm, I had several other projects running so could easily wait with my wooden box!
Thank you for doing this, I hope to show the result of my endeavour in a few days time.
Till then!
