Original Creation

Big sky

Lc 06 Feb 2024

I watched tutorial last night by Paul Ranson about a painting a big sky and a different technique with making clouds basically wiping off the paint and then adding your layers. I didn’t really follow the rest of the tutorial besides the clouds kind of did my own thing by the end.
I was trying to make the beach, look wet and glassy. I don’t know if I really achieve that. But a Good learning experience.

Nice work Elsie! As our bearded friend liked to say, “It’s your world”. (Do whatever you want)!

Beautiful beach scene!

Hey Elsie. Top painted and Paul Ranson has great tutorials 👍🏼🇩🇪Good work

Very nice

Thank you everyone appreciate it!!

Nice, peaceful composition!

Great job!

Thank you Jon, and Tomi!

This is the most effective method I find for the clouds - by wiping the space where the clouds are going to be and adding the layers.

You have lovely peach color of the clouds. Well done!

Sand on the beach to make wet area, you would need to make it darker than the sky even with water reflections on it. Base needs to be darker. When you select color of your sand - add color of water to it and it will become muddy dirty color that will be your base for the area where sand is wet. Then you can add water ripples and reflections to it.

Thank you Guyana I will definitely do that next time!

Very pretty! The entire painting has a nice glowy feeling, and I do think the sand has a wet look.

Thank you very much Pam!!

Such a soft and soothing painting. Love the colors. To be honest, I have no clue how to make the sand glassy. I'll take note on what Sunnylady shared with you/us.

Lovely scene.

Thank you Nancy and Tony!😊
