Someplace I wanna be...

Lzicchinella 05 Jul 2020

This was based on an old tutorial but I changed up the right hand side of the painting completely to be less rocky and more sandy. My favorite part of the painting is the sunset and lighting. It’s bothering me that the wood plank in the middle of the painting is showing through a little with a line. I guess I need to not buy cheap canvas’ with that wood bar down the center!

Wow.. I just love the colouring of this. Your sand and beach area are great. About the wood bar.. Try placing a piece of Bristol board (or something thicker than paper) similar size to the painting between the canvas and wood.. May help.

Thank you! Thanks for the suggestion too!

Great work with the light in the distance! Sky, palms, mist -everything is beautiful!

LJM gave you a great advice. Cheaper canvas may not have capabilities to stretch even with adjustable stretcher. I use just a big piece of amazon box to put between canvas and that bar, as stretching did not work for my cheap canvas and left one side quite weak. It works quite well with the piece of the box.

It was someone's else's idea for sure (i think it may even have been you sunnylady) that I read .. I tried it and i KNOW it works..even during painting. Many of my larger pieces have framework edges around it before i knew of this tip.

@LJM : I learnt it from TheLandscapePainter. I guess he was the origin. Main criteria here - it works! :)

@Lzicchinella If your painting is not dried yet you can try to smudge colors in the sky and eliminate the problem fully from your wonderful painting.

Thanks for the great tips guys!

🤩 Definitely someplace I'd like to be as well!! Great job!
