These look like two disconnected different paintings. Any thoughts on how to connect the two?

MHK you got an awesome painting! I totally love the sky and thunderbolts! Your execution of thunder is super!

I think your sea is very dark for this sky. You can add pink and grey but darker than sky and smudge the border on the horizon. It shall add the distance.

You have very gentle blue on the bottom of the sky, bring some of that to the water at the distance and blend in a bit. Try to play with color from the sky in the water.

I also would suggest to add either offshore drilling rig or small ship silhouette but think about size as you will need to cross horizon line with that silhouette. This also shall be a good tool to physically link sky and the water
Draw couple of sizes on paper, cut it out, and test best location and size on the painting, just move it gently around your sea. Try do not make silhoette black color, make it lighter, but think how light or dark it shall be with your new water. Good thing about oil, even if you start at very dark color of the silhouette, you can lighten it any moment while it wet.

Thanks I've changed it quite a bit but I don't know how to replace the original one with the updated one ;-). I tried to Edit it and/or delete and replace but I'm afraid I'd lose the thread. I think when all said and done this one might turn out OK ;-)

You can upload more pictures to this one with the "Add Pictures" button. Can't change the "main" picture though

Thanks Felix. I tried it but it doesn't seem like it worked ;-( Most likely user error on my part

Are you getting an error message? I will check the server log later to see if it is a problem with the website

I uploaded it 2x but still no 2nd image. Thanks for checking.

That sky and lightening is stunning. Do you mind me asking how you did the lightening? Was it a liner brush in TW/magic white? Thanks.

liner brush, TW but I dipped the brush in some linseed oil. Very little, just enough to liquefy the TW sp it flowed easily. Hope that helps.

@MHK - there is size limit on the additional picture. I think it is 2.5 Mb.
