I decided to go ahead and try again, (and keep practicing) the crashing beach wave. This is a practice canvas panel, I have painted over it like 5 times trying to get this.... I think I understand the anatomy a little better, but my angles and perspective are still off - something is still not clicking. I am going to keep working on it, but any helpful tips would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you, Jos! Yes, I like the Anatomy of a Wave episode. I may need to watch it a few more times! I definitely want to do more seascapes!
I think we all find seascapes tricky to start with but they are so worth the effort. Take a look at Paul Ranson Pastel Seas on YouTube it will help! He works slowly and explains it very well. You'll get there.
Thank you, Helen! I definitely will watch Paul’s videos!
I think it looks great. I love the colors!
Thank you so much, Chris!

I think this your best effort so far. Lots of progress and looking good
Thank you for the link, Helen… this is one I have not seen!
Thank you so much,, Rebecca. Your encouragement is very comforting! I am not giving up on this My son just bought a home and would like a seascape painting, so I am determined to learn this! I have to keep reminding myself that these skills don’t happen overnight!
Ahh..the wave..me luvs that ocean!
