Anna Akhmatova (1889 - 1966) was a Russian poet known for her poignant lyricism and reflections on themes such as love, loss, and the historical events of her time, including the Russian Revolution and Stalinist repression. She was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1965 and 1966.
Her poetry frequently explores themes of suffering, resilience, and the human condition, capturing the essence of the Russian soul through her powerful and evocative verses. Sources and information about her life are relatively scant, as war, revolution and the Soviet regime caused much of them to be destroyed.
This was also the poster which I painted for International Women's Day and it was displayed in the school. I know that I didn't really do it well because I also got a job to paint other portraits for the entire weekend.
