Ivo Andrić (1892 – 1975) was a Yugoslav novelist, poet and story writer who won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1961. He grew up in a multicultural environment under Austro‑Hungarian rule and was actively involved in South Slav youth movements. He then embarked on a diplomatic career, representing Yugoslavia, and serving as ambassador to Germany until the outbreak of World War II.
The Nobel Committee praised him for the epic force with which he traced themes and depicted human destinies drawn from Yugoslav history. As a towering figure of South Slavic literature, he's celebrated across Bosnia, Croatia, and Serbia, while his works are translated and studied as part of the region’s cultural heritage.
phenomenal drawing!
Strong drawing and interesting writeup. I never knew about that. Is there some story behind his expression? Thank you.
Well, for his facial expression, there's not much to say, except it's just his usual look.
