Jovan Jovanović Zmaj (1833 – 1904) was a prominent Serbian poet, physician, and publisher, who's considered one of the most beloved figures in Serbian literature. Known for his poetry, children's poems, and satirical works, he earned widespread affection for his warm, playful, and deeply humanistic style.
His collection of poetry for children, "Čika Jova Zmaj", is a cornerstone of Serbian children's literature. In addition to his literary achievements, he played a notable role in the Serbian Romantic movement and contributed significantly to cultural and political life in XIX century Serbia.
