Mahatma Gandhi (1869 – 1948) was an Indian lawyer, anti-colonial nationalist, and political ethicist. He was a leader of India’s non-violent independence movement against British rule. He also led campaigns for civil rights, the end of colonialism, and improvements in the lives of the poor and marginalized.
He became a symbol of peace not just in India, but around the world. His lifestyle, spiritual strength, and commitment to truth continue to inspire movements for civil rights and freedom globally. He's also known as the “Father of the Nation”. In India, he remains one of the most respected figures in modern history.
