Milan Rakić (1876 – 1938) was prominent Serbian poet and diplomat known for his refined, introspective poetry. His works mainly explore themes of death, love and patriotism. He combined classical form with deep expression, and also praised for his precise language, musicality and philosophical depth.
He wrote largely about death and non-existence, keeping the tone sceptical. He was also a member of the Serbian Royal Academy. Though he spent much of his life in diplomacy, his literary influence remains strong, and he is regarded as one of the greatest Serbian lyric poets of his time.
