Napoleon Bonaparte (1769 - 1821) was a French military general and also a leader who rose to prominence during the French Revolution and its subsequent wars. Born in 1769, he became Emperor of the French in 1804.
His ambitious reforms reshaped Europe, leading to the Napoleonic Wars, which expanded his empire across much of the continent. His rule also faced setbacks, and after several defeats, he was exiled to Elba in 1814, later returning to power in 1815, and was finally defeated at Waterloo. He spent his final years in exile on the island of Saint Helena, where he later died in 1821.
