On January 24th, 2025, during a general strike in Novi Sad, a city dog named Dona tragically was run over by an ambulance from the Clinical Center of Vojvodina. She sadly died from her injuries, despite the efforts to rush her to a veterinary clinic.
This incident led to public outrage and a memorial gathering in front of the City Hall to honor her memory. A criminal complaint was filed against the driver, and there is an initiative to erect a monument in Dona's honor.
