On March 15th, 2025, Belgrade witnessed one of the biggest protests in Serbian history, with over 100,000 people from across the country gathering. It was held at the National Assembly and at Slavija, where 15 minutes of silence was observed for the victims of the Novi Sad railway station canopy collapse which occurred on November 1st, 2024. There were some tensions with the Gendarmery, but mostly without the escalation of violence.
At around 19:11 CET, an LRAD (Long Range Acoustic Device) was allegedly used on peaceful protesters during 15 minutes of silence for the victims of the Novi Sad tragedy. The MUP (Serbian: Ministarstvo Unutrašnjih Poslova), later denied the allegations despite the video footage. Serbian president, Aleksandar Vučić (1970), called for the prosecution of those "lying" and "spreading disinformation".
