Fish Market in Novi Sad is the city's oldest and most iconic market. Established as a place dedicated solely to the sale of fresh fish, the market gradually expanded into a full-fledged green market. It’s a vibrant cultural and social hub where locals and tourists alike gather to shop for fresh produce, meat, fish, dairy, honey, wine, handcrafted goods, and delicacies from the region.
In the XX century, it functioned as a key urban bus stop and mini terminal. It was an important public transport hub for local and suburban bus lines. It served as a central node for many city transit lines. It was practical due to its central position, high foot traffic, and proximity to the market.
Today, it's no longer a bus terminal. It used to be a local bus terminal, and many residents still remember catching their bus home right next to the market. The focus has shifted towards pedestrian access and market activity, especially after urban renewal efforts in the 2010s.
