Sava Šumanović (1896 - 1942) was a Serbian painter who is considered to be one of the most important Serbian painters of the XX century. He was sadly executed in World War II, during the genocide of Serbs in the Independent State of Croatia or NDH (Serbo-Croatian: Nezavisna Država Hrvatska). Ustaše tortured him and threw him half alive into limestone.
This is one of his famous paintings, which shows a town of Šid during winter. Šid is a Serbian town located near the border crossing between Serbia and Croatia. It's known for its diverse cultural heritage, historical significance, and proximity to the Fruška Gora mountain range. His gallery is also located in Šid.
