The Armistice, signed on November 11th, 1918, was the agreement between the Allied forces and Germany, marking the end of World War I. This symbolized a peace after years of fighting. It was signed in the Compiègne Wagon, in France.
A railway carriage where the Armistice was signed, ending World War I, served as the meeting place between the Allied forces and German representatives. In 1940, Adolf Hitler used it to stage France’s surrender during World War II. Near the end of the war, the wagon was destroyed, but replicas still commemorate its legacy.
