"The Starry Night"

MilanC 16 Jul 2025

Vincent van Gogh (1853 – 1890) was a Dutch Post-Impressionist painter who's one of the influential figures in the history of Western art. In just a decade, he created approximately 2,100 artworks, including around 860 paintings. His work is known for bold colors and dramatic brushwork. His work also contributed to the rise of expressionism in modern art.

This is one of his famous paintings, which depicts a swirling night sky over a quiet village and rolling hills. Painted from his memory while he was in a mental asylum in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence. This work captures his emotional intensity with bold brushstrokes, vivid blues, and a luminous crescent moon. It's also one of his iconic pieces of Western art and a powerful expression of his turmoil and awe of nature.
