Vuk Stefanović Karadžić (1787 - 1864) was a Serbian philologist, anthropologist and linguist, who was also one of the important reformers of the Serbian language. He was the author of the first Serbian dictionary. Another thing, he also translated the New Testament into the reformed form of the Serbian language.
He modernized the Serbian language and improved its grammar. He was known for collecting Serbian literature and developing the Serbian Cyrillic alphabet. His work laid the foundation for the modern Serbian literary language.
