I used masking tape after I put black gesso on whole canvas...I think the same way with white borders but figure i will use masking tape to color borders first then use the contact paper for a shape...I just really want to try contact paper... lol

Morad, I read on this website that as a good option for contact paper is a furniture grade that you can buy in builders/DIY stores. People were quite happy with sticking capacity and with the price as well. This is in case paper glue as Voy suggested will not work for you.
I personally did not try as I do not quite like the white canvas around my paintings. But so many people make it look super cool!
