Glowing Alley • NTZ

Ninoum 04 Sep 2023

When I saw the real picture (see attachment) of this composition, my hands wanted to paint it right away. I love the rich golden glow color and how it bounces on everything that surrounds it. What a cool place to take a nice walk!

I really appreciate your comment Sandy! Coming from you, it's always an honor.

Thank you Bob! 😀

Thank you so much my friend Jeffth! I learned lots while doing this one! Specially the bark of the trees.

Thank you my friend! 🇩🇪 Glad you like!

Almost perfect!

Badass N! (Painting and artist!).

It is awesome how hard you want to work. The results look so professional 😀

I just love scenes like this! You nailed it! <3

Better than the photo!

Your rate of improvement is breath taking Nancy. You have really upped your game. You are on a different level my friend. Each of your paintings is such an inspiration. You definitely have the artist touch. Have you ever considered having a showing/sale of your paintings. I am quite sure you would be very successful.

Thank you Jos! 😊

That is so sweet B!! Thank you very much! 😃

Thank you bunches Tom! ☀️ I really don't mind how long it takes me or how hard I have to work to get a painting done. I wanted to do 4-6 paintings/week before I started to do KH's. After doing few of his tutorials, my way of seeing things changed. In order to get to the results I want, time is required. I enjoy every single second of it.

Thank you very much Titia! They are some of my fav scenes too!

Awww 🥹 Thank you Laura!

Wow! Thank you so very much Tony! I have not yet consider selling nor doing a showing. I am too busy painting to setup either or. Lol!! 😆

I can not decide if I love this one or your "mossy bridge" more!!!! They do have the same feeling, and you have NAILED it.

Beautiful painting Ninoum! I have no other words. This is really inspiring and I do want to look at it for a long time!

I would love to hear more about what you learned while doing this one, especially about the bark as you say.
ps - you HAVE to start selling these. you could go full time as an artist easy. and I have to agree with Tony, your rate of improvement is mystical. Hence why I keep pestering you to start recording or writing tutorials! What's your secret?! haha jk I know it's just practice (and just being plain talented :P)

I just noticed you marked acrylics as one of the mediums you used, I'd love to hear more about how you made use of acrylics to plan your painting. No pressure, and feel free to ignore my constant questions! :P

I 💯 agree with Jeff, your learning curve isn’t curved, it’s a rocket to the top!

Thank you very much Pam! 😊 I agree with you! One is warmer than the other. I guess the mood you are in at that moment may affect the one you prefer… Both are very soothing to look at. That’s why I pick them.

Awww! I really appreciate that Sunnylady! Thank you! 🥹

On the picture, when blown up, the bark on some close up trees seems to want to peel off. There’s a lot of texture that have to be created with light vs. shadows and soft edges vs. sharp ones. For the 1st time, I was able to replicate that. I use different small brushes to achieve that. It’s not easy to explain with words easier to show how it’s made.

I’d def love to make this more of a professional focus in my life but I am afraid it would turn into a “job”. I don’t want that. It has to excite me every time I look at a blank canvas… what will appear on it.

Another aspect is that I am a very slow painter. That painting was done over the course of 4-5 days, spending between 3-10 hours each time. That’s why I can achieve a much higher technical level with those type of compositions.

Like I mention to Tony, doing Kevin Hill’s and Robert Warren’s tutorials rocked me to the top (like B described below 😁). They use mid & dark tones and sometimes 2-3 different colors for highlights. Alway a minimum of 3 colors for anything you create on canvas. It give life, dimension, realism to your painting. Once you understand that, your skills will jump to the next level.

As far as the acrylic medium, I am talking about black gesso. I used it to create a background base like Bob does sometimes. I painted branches, trees and use also the natural sponge for more far away and fainted details. I sometimes use acrylic ink to color my gesso. But I didn’t use those in this painting.

I agree w/you B! Adding to what fast forwarded my learning curve to a rocket one, is not to be afraid to scrap off and start a section over until you get it right. I can not live with myself when I painted something that I consider “off”. I will put the painting in hiding if I do that. I spend too much time already on a compo to not like it.

I will research lots and lots when I am not sure on how to create something. Most of the time, I’ll find a tutorial on that element on YouTube. I’ll look at many pictures of a similar detail I am struggling with. I look carefully at all the smallest details to be able to recreate it.

And finally, as I said in the past, I always had great affinities with music and arts. I just find it easy to figure things out. Some people are really good at maths, I became good really fast at painting with oils. I guess it’s just a beautiful gift I was born with. 😊

thank you for the detailed response! I hope to learn as much as I can from someone who saw so much improvement so quickly.

Anytime my friend! Please reach out if you have any questions or need tips! Always happy to help! 😊

Gorgeous! I love the picture and the painting! I understand the urge to paint quickly what you saw. Very creative and beautiful! Nicely done :)

I really appreciate your comment. Thank you Daniel! I have so many more I want to do that my give me "ants in the pants"! Lol!
