This is a value study in black and white gesso. I might glaze over it with oils. The reference photo is by Paul Foxton. He has the cup and spoon in a youtube video

I too like it's rustic appearance. At this point it could be pewter, or tarnished silver, whichever you want it to be. Acrylic silver comes in a few different shades which I have used successfully in the past and it looks lovely, however it loses its lustre when you upload the photo. No idea how you approach it in oils, it's a challenge I haven't attempted yet. I look forward to seeing what you do with it.

That is beautiful! looks just like silver! I am sure it will be lovely with a glaze, but I love it just as it is!
