So, this is a very emotional painting for me. I grew up on the Carolina coast. I was 6 yrs old and another kid pushed his raft over me from behind me- not letting me get out from under the water. I was curled into a ball and submerged under water.
My Momma grabbed me- it’s a miracle she saw me- and I really miss her now. She passed and now I feel her love around me. When I pray- I thank God for her. Here’s my interpretation of her saving me. Thanks for looking!
Thank you!!
She gave you life, twice.
Wow! Very meaningful and emotionally evocative!
Great energy in this one, you can feel the wave! I wonder what happens if you push it even further and remove the background and only focus on the wave. Maybe something to try the next time you have leftover paint on your palette?
Great work, i had a similar experience as a young kid and can emphasise
@STEPHIERAE sorry to hear about your mom, my condolences to you and your love ones. I am happy she saved you from that giant wave and this is a lovely painting beautiful motion of the waves, the color is magnificent and captivating. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you all. 🤗
You really captured that feeling of rushing water and the power of a wave to overpower a person! Great job turning that feeling into this beautiful painting!
Thank you!

Nice work, Stephanie! The gigantic swirl captures the turbulence and trauma of the moment, the curling child, and a mother's unconditional love for her daughter.
