Original Creation

The first one. Ever.

Sarah_Sorensen 02 Jan 2022

This is my first attempt at painting 12-15 years ago. I tried a class that didn't really teach me anything, so instead I bought an oil painting book and tried it on my own. I used oils in the 'traditional' manner for this one; not the wet on wet technique. I produced one more work after this, but quit painting soon thereafter and didn't start painting again until 2019.

Voy Kay Conqueror of Challenges

That was indeed very promising already!
Quite some depth in this painting and that big tree has the time of its life!

This is a great painting! I bet it was more difficult than Bob Ross and probably less joyful. It really catches the eye due to classic manner of painting. Nice distance and the way trees are painted. The water is very real as well as the sky. If you find the same book to repeat this painting now I am sure you will enjoy the process so much more together with the result.

I had a brother who told me that my painting was a crap. I was 15 or 16 that time(gentle age!). I could not stand critics and I stopped for many years. After 14-15 years I modestly tried acrylics and I remembered how happy I am when paint. But boy it was frustrating more often. 4 years later I switched to oils with support of my dear husband and now I don’t want to stop and try to grow a thick skin for critics. Every painting goes through an ugly stage and it helps to manage intermediate comments from family members with smile till it is finished and given for feedback.
This is fantastic that you have an incredible supportive partner as this is most rewarding part of relationships. Happy painting!
